This page describes exactly what Erev sends, how often, and how to stop it.
Only people who ask. Erev never sends the first text to anyone. A family member joins by texting JOIN and their code to Erev from their own phone, then replying YES. The account owner gets texts only if they tick the box for them when they sign up in the app. Erev does not send marketing, promotions or anything else — only the household's own jobs.
1. The account owner sends them an invite from the owner's own phone, like this:
Hi [Name]! I'm using Erev to send out our Shabbos and Yom Tov jobs. To get yours by text, send JOIN [code] to [Erev's number]. Msg frequency varies, about 2-10/week. Msg & data rates may apply. Text STOP to stop, HELP for help.
2. They text JOIN and the code. Erev answers:
Erev: Hi [Name], [Mommy] invited you to get your Shabbos and Yom Tov jobs by text. Msg frequency varies, about 2-10/week. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out. Reply YES to join.
3. They reply YES. Erev confirms, and only then sends their jobs:
Erev: Thanks [Name], you're in. Erev will text you about your family's Shabbos and Yom Tov prep. Msg frequency varies, about 2-10/week. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out.
An account owner who ticked the box at sign-up gets the same confirmation straight away.
It depends on how many jobs are on that person's list and how many reminders the owner sets. In practice it is a handful of messages in the day or two before Shabbos or Yom Tov — typically two to ten a week. Nothing is sent between candle lighting and havdalah.
Reply STOP to any message and it stops immediately. We confirm once, and that is the last message:
You're unsubscribed from Erev and won't get more texts. Reply START to rejoin.
Reply START to start again. Only the person holding the phone can restart their own messages. The account owner cannot do it for them.
Reply HELP to any message:
Erev: Shabbos and Yom Tov prep texts from your family. Reply DONE to finish a task, STOP to opt out, START to rejoin. Help: brachafliegelman@gmail.com. Msg & data rates may apply.
